In conjunction with Valleys Kids, Down to Earth Project has been awarded £583,000 from the People’s Postcode Lottery ‘Dreamfund’. This money will be used to build a remarkable residential centre with disadvantaged young people at Little Bryn Gwyn on Gower. This is the first time a project in Wales has been funded by the dreamfund and they’ve only funded 3 partnership projects in the UK. It’s great recognition of our approach and the partnership with Valleys Kids..
Who is this project for?
This Dreamfund project allows us to provide training opportunities in sustainable construction for groups of 8 – 12 young people (17-24 years old) from referral agencies. If your group is older, this project might be for you.
1 remaining group intake dates available for November-December
Groups will attend 1 day a week for 8 weeks. We’ll be running a group every weekday so we should cover most schedules. We won’t run sessions over school holidays.
- 10:30 – 14:30.
You’ll be based at our Little Bryn Gwyn site. Little Bryn Gwyn is a small farm at the foot of Cefn Bryn on Gower. This site has been entirely built by group members such as yourself. You can find directions, contact details & maps here. If you want to see more of what the site is like, head over here
What do you need?
- You need to be able to get to us. Buses do run but the service is infrequent, and you’ll have to walk for about 20 minutes. Minibus, taxi, or car-sharing are probably the favourite options.
- A packed lunch. Don’t forget sandwiches, we’ll provide the tea and biscuits!
- The group need to wear clothing that they can move comfortably in, don’t mind getting dirty, and is suitable for British weather! We have plenty of waterproofs that group members can use.
